How do I insert a picture or clip art into an Excel file?
Adding pictures and clip art to your documents can enhance their visual appeal and help convey information more clearly. To insert images into your Microsoft Excel files, select your version from the list below and follow the instructions.
Excel 2007, 2010, and 2013
- Open Microsoft Excel.
- Open an existing document or start a new one.
- Click on any cell to select it.
- At the top of the screen, click the Insert tab (Excel 2010 shown below).
- Under the Insert tab, select the image type you are interested in: Picture, Clip Art,Screenshot, or Photo Album.
- Move your mouse cursor to the corner of the image, then click and drag to resize.
Tip: Once added, users may make adjustments to images by right-clicking and selecting Properties from the drop-down menu.
Excel 2000 and 2003
- Open Microsoft Excel.
- Open an existing document or start a new one.
- Click on any cell to select it.
- At the top of the screen, click Insert, move your cursor over Picture, and then select Clip Art... or From File... as shown in the following image.
- Select your image then click the Insert button.
- Open the Picture Toolbar by clicking View, Toolbars, and then Picture.
- Make appropriate adjustments to your image then save.
